Manu are special for a whole host of reasons, for our whanau they guide us on our journeys up and down the whenua, messengers of news both good and not so good, and they are indicators of seasons to be weary of by the position of their nest and the opening of the nest door - and the way it faces, or how far upriver the nest is built, can be an indication of floods in the seasonal change.

The Manu in this diptych (set of two) feature some inspirational Rock Art, which are some of our earliest recorded paintings. Ka Manu Kaitiaki are sold as a set due to the style of design.
